When your dreams all fail
And the ones we hail
Are the worst of all
And the blood's run stale

I want to hide the truth
I want to shelter you
But with the beast inside
There's nowhere we can hide

No matter what we breed
We still are made of greed
This is my kingdom come
This is my kingdom come

"How ferocious! You'd think he was a demon's child!"

"But I'm not," A six year-old Rin mumbled to himself as he walked away from the scared adults, covered in bruises as he dragged his feet behind him, "I'm not a demon..." Pausing in his walk, he clenched his bruises fists together and looked up at the sky, screaming, "No I'm nooot!"

Kaoru and Rin watched nervously as Shiro stuffed some of Rin's clothes into a duffel bag, obviously in a rush. Rin didn't know what he was more worried about; the fact that his best friend had a tail and horns and that his "father" was apparently about to send him on a road trip, or the fact that was the offspring of Satan, the devil, himself.

Focusing his attention on his "Father" he stuttered, still in shock, "Wha-What are you doing?"

"You must leave this Monastery," Shiro informed Rin, before tossing the back at Rin's face. Rin shouted in pain and fumbled to catch, his fingers digging into the duffel bag. Rin pulled the bag away from his face and exclaimed in confusion,

"Leave-Hey!" He shouted. Shiro didn't reply, instead, he pulled out a key that was hanging around his neck. He held it out to Rin to explain,

"This is the "Key of Vanishment"." Turning, he put it in the lock on a drawer and turned, opening it and revealing the Kurikara sword, "It can hide anything in any given location.

Kaoru spoke, tired of keeping quiet in a situation as serious as this, "It's called the "Koma" sword, more commonly known as "Kurikara"."

"It's an ancient and legendary demon-slaying sword," Shiro continued her explanation, reaching in and picking the sword up, showing it to them. "Many years ago, I transferred your demonic powers into this sword and sealed the scabbard." He held the sword out to Rin, who stared at-eyes confused and horrified at the same time.

"Wait, my-my powers?" Kaoru nodded, watching Shiro shove the sword into Rin's arms, placing it on top of the yellow duffel bag.

"This sword is more important than your life." Shiro told him, completely serious, "This sword must never fall into anyone's hands. Keep it by your side-even when you sleep. Remember, this must never be drawn. Once drawn, your demonic powers will be awakened and you can never go back to being human.

Rin's eyes narrowed, trying to understand everything that was happening. He said, "Hold on-if I'm supposed to be some sort of demon-Then what about Yukio? Don't tell me that he's one as well!" Kaoru flinched at the indirect accusation, stepping back involuntarily.

"Even though you and Yukio are fraternal twins, Yukio was underdeveloped and frail and proved too weak to sustain the power."

Kaoru spoke, voice soft and quiet and guilty as Rin looked at her, "I'm-I'm sorry, Rin, but...You're the only one who has the blue flames." His eyes widened, whether in hurt or shock she didn't know. She winced at the betrayed look he gave her, asking in a hurt tone,

"How long...How long did you know?"

Shiro didn't give her a chance to answer, setting the key onto the Kurikara sword and pulling out a phone, saying, "When you must, use the key to hide it; when you leave monastery, there is a single number inside the memory. I want you to call it; my friend will come pick you up. I doubt you will ever be able to live as you have done until this day, but at least he will be able to protect you."

The ground shook, showing signs that a demon was trying to break into the church.

Rin looked at the both of him, hurt, "Did everyone know about this?" His chest had tightened, a pain so there it almost hurt to breathe. Someone had been clawing at his chest until it was raw, then poured salt onto the wound; that was what it felt like. He questioned, grounding his teeth together as his grip on the bag tightened, "That I'm not really a human being? That I'm the spawn of the devil!?" He growed when neither of them gave a response and screamed, throwing everything he was holding onto the floor, "Screw this!"

"Rin-!" They shouted in unison, both alarmed by his sudden actions. Rin stared at them, demanding,

"What-What's going on all of a sudden!? Demons...Demons-! You're telling me that they actually exist!? That she's a demon!?" He pointed at Kaoru, who tried to resist taking another step back. If there was one thing she hated, it was when Rin got mad at her; which wasn't often, "This has gotta be some kind of sick joke! Why the hell keep something so important as this quiet all this damn time!?"

"I'll raise you as long as you remain human," Shiro told him, unaffected by his screaming, "You see, to keep you alive, you of demonic origin it was the one condition that had to be met." Rin was about to shout again, but paused, eyes wide at the realization of what he just said.

"Condition?"

"I needed to raise you as a human being; that's why I chose to say nothing, why I had Kaoru tell you nothing. Nothing at all, nothing about the secret about you and your brother's birth."

There was another earthquake and Kaoru cried out in alarm, "It's Astaroth again!" Rin stared at her with wide-eyes, almost wondering how she knew that. Shiro quickly grabbed Rin's arm, leading him up the stairs with Kaoru in the rear, shouting.

"Come on!" They arrived back in the main room of the church, a pile of rubble standing at the opening of the church. Astaroth, in the body of Shiratori, walked towards them with a sick twisted grin, surrounded by canine ghouls. Fungi demons grew along the ground and the walls.

"I have come for you my young Prince..." He sang, giving them a sickly smile. He held a clawed hand up, "Let us return home to Gehenna." He didn't give Rin much of a choice as his arm suddenly increased drastically in length as it stretched all the way to the other side of the Monastery, grabbing onto Rin's leg and pulling, knocking him onto his back. Kaoru looked on with alarm before growling, quickly lunging towards the arm and made her hand become encased in hot red flames, causing Astaroth to cry out in pain.

At the same time, one of the priest's poured Holy water on the demon, causing him to release Rin. Shiro quickly grabbed onto the back collar of the Rin's blue hoodie, pulling him onto his feet as he pushed him back towards the steps. "Come morning, the demonic activity will taper off! You've got to leave right now and hide yourself where the demons' won't find you!"

"Hide? Where for Pete's sake?"

"I told you, call my friend. Call him as soon as you leave the Monastery. Until then, Kaoru shall help you." At her name being said, the girl left the demon and ran towards him and Rin. "He'll recognize her. I'm more than certain that he'll be willing to take you in and protect you."

"Hey-!" Rin didn't have much time to protest before Shiro shoved him down the stairs, causing him to land on the ground with a loud thump. Shiro cast Rin a single look before she nodded hesitantly and moved down the steps, watching as he pushed the podium back into place and blocking their escape. He stood up, pushing past Kaoru as he ran up the stairs and banged on the doors, screaming, "Wait! But we're not done talking yet! Let me out old man, let me out!" He screamed, pounding angrily on the podium bottom.

Quietly walking over and picking up the Koma sword, she traced its design for a few seconds before walking up the steps towards Rin and holding out the sword, saying, "Here...Pounding on the podium is useless; it won't budge. Believe me, I would know."

For a short time after Shiro and Mephisto found, they locked her down there to determine whether she was a threat or not-seeing how she was only a kid and Shiro was already a changed man by then. She banged and pounded and screamed all she liked; but it never budged. A few things were burned, but that was only at the beginning when she was angered by their actions. She eventually calmed herself down like her late "mother" taught her to do.

Rin stared at her with wide eyes, uncertainly taking the sword as he stared at her in horror, not wanting what was happening to be real. He whispered, voice so low she almost missed what he said, "Me...a demon?"

Kaoru, not knowing what else she could do, merely ducked her head and apologized, "I'm sorry...I didn't want you to know." He always managed to bring out her soft side, as well as he slightly rough and sarcastic side-but she never showed her soft side that much with anyone else. Rin was her best friend, and now that she knew that he knew that she knew that he knew what she really was, she wasn't sure what their relationship was going to be after all this. Were they going to still be friends, or will he ignore her for the rest of their demonic lives?

I'm not...I'm not... Rin thought, clearly in denial as he stared at nothing, memories rushing through his head. Memories of his time with his brother and Shiro, with Kaoru, with other children who hated him because he was different, with adults who commented on him being "demonic" and a "demon", a "demon's child". Rin had trouble controlling his extreme strength when he was younger, which often caused most of the arguments...

After a few moments, Rin seemed to snap out of his trance and in a moment of uncontrollable anger, mustered up all of his impossible strength and shoved the podium away, knocking it over. Seeing Astaroth threatening the priests and Shiro, he grabbed a nearby pitchfork and threw with incredible aim and into his shoulder. Astaroth had transformed into a giant Minotaur-like creature.

"Like I said, "we aren't done talking yet", you old fart." Rin growled, glaring at both Shiro and Astaroth. Kaoru flinched at the outcome, but figured that if Rin hadn't done what he did, most of the people would be dead by now.

Astaroth lifted his head up, pinned to the ground by the pitchfork-apparently, and exclaimed in disbelief, "My young prince-! What on earth-?" He was cut off by Shiro placing a foot on his chest and pointing a rifle at his face, reciting from the bible.

"Lord in heaven, hang a milestone around his neck, so that he may never arise again from the depths of Leviathan."

Astaroth screamed in protest, already weakening, "Stooop!"

"Unable to see and unable to hear, imprisoned by eternal darkness!" He held up a small pendent that was formed in the shape of the True Cross symbol, Astaroth screamed. Black smoke, though in actuality it was a horde of Coaltars, erupted from his mouth as he screamed. Once he was back to his regular form of Shiratori, unconscious, Shiro ordered, "Nagatomo, bring the car around." The man with brown wavy hair nodded, clutching his fractured ribs as he tried to stand as he pushed Maruta off of him. "Izumi, Kyouto, I want you to brand this youngster with the sign of kantomorph. Make sure you don't forget to purify him."

"Yes, father!" They said as they ran over.

"Wait a sec," Rin protested, causing Kaoru to blink and look at him confused, "Shouldn't you take care of your own wounds first?"

Shiro turned to Rin, saying, "No. Right now, our first and only priority is to safely get you into hiding. Never forget that it's you that the demons' are coming after, Rin."

Rin looked taken-aback and shocked for a moment, before his face hardened into a glare, "Is that right?" He questioned, voice full of bitterness, "So what you're saying is that everything will be alright so long as I'm history?"

"No, Rin, that's not-" Shiro started to protest, unable to believe what he was hearing, only to be cut off by the bluenette.

"Fine, then, I'll be happy to bounce."

Kaoru tried to convince him, "Rin, you know he isn't-"

"Shut up, Kaoru!" Rin snapped, glaring at the girl sharply. She flinched, looking at him with wide and hurt eyes, "You knew about it along, too, didn't you? You both knew and you never told me! You'd both feel a lot better if I left anyway!" He growled before turning around and walking away, leaving the girl stunned and rooted to the spot. Shiro ran after him, Kaoru unable to speak.

"Rin!" He grabbed onto his shoulder, only to have Rin slap his hand away with a glare.

"Let go! You're the one who wants to kick me out of here! You don't have to tell me that I'm the screwed up son!" He paused before saying with a bitter smile as he stared at a stunned Shiro, "Actually, we're not even related so I'm the screwed up stranger, right?"

"Stop it!" Shiro ordered, looking at his "son" worriedly. Kaoru snapped out of it and looked at the two family members alarmed as they fought.

"Come on! Why don't you just admit it!?" Rin sounded like he was about to cry, "You're just sick and tired of wanting to pretend you're my family!" He grounded his teeth together as he pulled his head back, looking up at him through narrowed eyes, "Or is it "Get your religion" or something like that? Or wait-is it because you want one last time to play the perfect dad!? Give me a break, you're not my father!" Kaoru flinched at the look of hurt in Shiro's eyes, and watched as he tried to get control of himself, "You're nobody to me! Don't ever let me see you acting as my father ever again!"

Kaoru flinched, hard, at the sound of skin hitting against skin echoed around the room as Shiro slapped Rin, leaving a red mark on his left cheek.

"It will be morning soon," Shiro said, quiet and calm, as the room grew silent, "Hurry. Go get your things." Kaoru swallowed the lump in her throat and laced her fingers together in front of her, fiddling with them nervously. She had never seen Shiro ever raise a hand to Rin, or even Yukio for that matter, like that before.

Rin was silent, staring into nothing, bit biting the inside of his cheek and muttering, "Yeah, okay..." He stood up straight and turned around, bangs covering his eyes, as he started to walk away.

Kaoru looked up at the old man, and questioned nervously as she watched him stare at his red palm, "Are you okay, Shiro?"

"Yeah, I'm-!" He let out a strangled sound of pain out of the back of his throat, causing Rin to stop walking and everyone else to stop working, staring at Shiro alarmed. He fell to his knees and pressed a hand to his chest, acting like he was being strangled, "No-It can't be-!"

"Father Fujimoto!" Izumi shouted in alarm as he and the others started to run over, only to stop when he shouted,

"Stay away!" His shoulder were shaking and Kaoru could see his teeth start to grow fangs, "Don't take another step closer to me!" The wall-lamps shattered, causing the room to darken considerably as glass flew everywhere.

"No..." Kaoru whispered, voice clearly horrified. Rin look at her in alarm, realizing that what was happening was far worse than he could imagine.

"Wh-What's going on?" Rin questioned, trying not to freak out any more than he already was.

Demonic laughter burst out of Shiro's lips, his shoulders shaking. He stopped laughing and sat up, staring at his hands with a sadistic grin, "At long last...I've claimed this body as my own!" Tensing, Kaoru held an arm out to Rin, trying to shield him from the demon that had possessed Shiro, despite knowing it was a futile attempt. Rin looked at her strangely, the taste of betrayal still in his mouth, and pushed her arm down as he ran towards Shiro.

"Old man?" Why was Shiro acting so strangely? Shiro looked up at Rin sharply, his eyes not his own. He gave Rin a grin, revealing a row of sharp teeth.

"Well, finally we meet at last-my long lost son." He erupted into blue flames, his ears growing long a pointed as he added with a grin, "Just kidding-Ahahaha!" Satan, in Shiro's body, laughed uncontrollably.

"What's wrong with you, old man!?" Rin demanded, causing one of the priest's to inform him,

"He's been possessed! Satan has entered him and taken over his body!" Rin tensed and looked back Shiro, whose eyes were now blue with a red slit pupil.

"Exactly as he says," He replied, "I am Satan! I am the ruler of Gehenna, and you're true father! But you can call me "Papa" if you want." He went into a round of sadistic laughter.

"Father Fujimoto!" Nagatomo screamed, charging forward along with the other priests, only to have Satan glare at them and order,

"Shut up." And he lit them on fire, engulfing them in blue flames. Kaoru lunged, encasing herself in red flames, at Satan only to be flown back into a wall when he waved his hand and shot a blast of blue flames-which happened to be incredibly stronger than her own. Her back slammed against a wall and she slid down, her vision fading in and out.

"No, stop it!" Rin shouted, unable to do anything to get rid of him.

"Don't you dare ruin our touching reunion. I'm afraid time is running out for me," Satan said as blood streamed down his cheeks out of his eyes and nose. As he said this, he pulled on Shiro's fingers before snapping two of them in half and causing his blood to stream down on the floor as he let his arm hang limply by his side. Rin was horrified. "You see, my power is too overwhelming for Assiah. So whatever I possess is doomed not to last long. Just like this man's body, and just like your mother, my son."

Rin couldn't speak, merely staring with wide eyes at the gate that was forming on the ground in front of him as he clutched his sword tighter, hands shaking. He backed up, tripping over his feet and falling onto his butt as he backed himself up against a wall. He stared, mortified at the creatures that seemed to bubble up onto the surface of the gate.

"Wh-What the hell is that!?" He demanded. From beside Rin, Kaoru started to stir and blearily opened her eyes as Satan responded.

"Gehenna Gate." Eyes on the gate blinked, opening, "The magical gate that link Assiah and Gehenna! Now then, let's be off." He started to walk towards, Rin, causing the frightened teen to shout at him,

"No, stay away! Stay AWAY!" Satan looked mildly surprised when Rin was engulfed in blue flames. He stared at Rin for a few seconds before erupting into laughter again.

"What the hell was that supposed to be; did you just piss your pants or something?" He was clearly amused. Rin looked horrified as Satan continued to walk towards him, "That was pathetic," He grabbed the hood of his hoodie, dragging him towards the gate, "Just get your demonic powers back already!" He said as he grabbed the Kurikara.

"I"m not a demon!" Rin protested, struggling to get him to let go, "I'm a human!" They passed a broken piece of glass that showed his reflection, scaring him.

What-Is that me? Rin asked himself, horrified as he stared at the reflection of him with bared fangs and frightened eyes, covered in blue flames, Then...I really am-!

"The blood of the god of Gehenna runs thick in your veins," Satan spoke, redirecting Rin's attention back onto him, "yet you're body exist here in Assiah! You're an extraordinary being, you know!" He threw Rin onto the demons of the Gehenna gate, causing him to gasp. He screamed when the demons started to grab at him, slowly pulling him down into Gehenna. Satan laughed again, "Splendid birth cry! Today is the day of your rebirth as a demon, my son!"

Rin gasped, reaching a hand out to no one, "Somebody-! Somebody-Help MEEEEE!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, causing Kaoru to fully regain consciousness as she grasped what was going on. Stumbling, she moved over to grasp Rin's hand, only to have the edge of the Gehenna gate give out and pull her in as well. She screamed, her scream echoing along with Rin's.

"Happy birthday, my beloved son!" Satan drawled sadistically, only to pause and have Shiro's voice say, "No...It's not true." Shiro grasped the True Cross pin that hung around his neck, stabbing himself in the chest. Satan gasped, obviously in pain.

Kaoru paused in her attempting to pull Rin out, eyes wide at the scene before, Rin's horrified gasp echoing in the church.

"That boy...That boy is my son," Shiro looked at Rin and Kaoru through his glasses, and said with a grin, "And I'm taking him back."

Satan gained control for a second, growling, "Curses, what do you think you're doing!? Damn you exorcist!" Looking at Rin one last time, Shiro collapsed into the Gehenna gate as well. A strangled sound erupted in Rin's throat, unable to believe what happened. A pain formed tightly in his chest, as if someone had taken his heart and crushed it, as he watched Shiro fall lifelessly into the gate.

"So you mean to sacrifice your own life for him? You astound me, you wretched priest." Satan said as Shiro started to sink into the Gehenna. He opened his eyes, sounding almost sympathetic, "However, it's already too late. Gehenna gate has already taken hold of you, and it will never let you go..."

"Old man!" Rin shouted, making his way through the demon's towards his father, Kaoru close behind with a look of shock and worry on her face.

Please don't be dead, Shiro... "Shiro!"

"Hang on, hang on, Old man, don't give up!" Rin shouted desperately, grabbing onto his father and holding onto him. When he gained to response, the tears welled up in his eyes and screamed, "DAAAAAAAAAD!"

"Shiro, no, no, no, Shiro, Shiro, come on!" Kaoru whispered frantically, biting back a sob. Shiro can't be dead. He just can't. The gate gave way, pulling all three of them deeper into Gehenna. Kaoru, seeing the look he gave the Kurikara, said, "Rin-don't! Hurry up and go! Leave us here!"

"There's no way in hell," He growled darkly at her, pissed and grieving at the same time.

"Hey, Dad...Why do you think I'm different from everyone else? Do you think that maybe I'm a demon's child?" Rin asked his father as he carried the little boy on his back. Rin had bruises and scrapes everywhere, his hair a mess as usual. Shiro let a small smile cross his face.

"Not at all. You're a normal human child, Rin." Rin's blue eyes lifted to stare at the back of his father's head, surprised at his kind words.

Not knowing what else to say, Rin smiled lightly and muttered, "Okay."

Rin refused to release his father, and he refused to let Kaoru die as well. She, Yukio, and the monastery were all he had left. Remembering his father's words about the sword and the warning, he hesitated as he didn't want to become exactly what everyone said he was. He didn't want to be a demon, but it was the only to save...

"Rin-no!"

Rin reached forwards and gripped the handle of the Kurikara sword. Tears pricked his eyes as he grounded his teeth together, "Stupid old man..."

Nagatomo tried to warn him as well, he being the only present and alive priest conscious, "Stop it, Rin! Did you forget what Father Fujimoto told you already!?"

"Rin-Rin, please! Don't do this to yourself!" Kaoru begged, the tears streaming silently down her face as she yelled. "If you draw the sword then-" She was cut off by Rin, who released Shiro and pushed him towards Kaoru, shouting as he gripped the handle and the sword case tightly,

"I still haven't shown you anything!" He growled before twisting the sword scabbard and breaking the seal, "Don't die, old man!" He pulled the sword out of its sheath and he was erupted in a glowing blue light, his ears growing longer and fangs elongating from his teeth. His tail was long and black, not as long as Kaoru's of course, and the puff at the end was a giant messy puffball of fur. Raising the sword, he screamed as he swung it onto the Gehenna Gate, causing it to disintegrate from the church floor.

Light peeked in through the windows, showing that it was morning, and Rin sealed the Sword. His fangs shortened to where they were still pointy but not that noticeable, and his ears were more elf-like and shorter than his earlier extremely long ears. He was silent for a moment, only snapping out of it at the sound of Kaoru's barely-held-back sobs. His eyes widened in horror and pain at the sight of his deceased father, who was laying motionlessly on the ground. Tears welling up in his eyes, he grounded his teeth together as he bit the insides of his cheeks in an attempt to keep himself from crying, only to tightly grip the Kurikara sword and squeeze his eyes shut tightly, tears streaming down his face as he tried to hold back a chocked sob; his shoulders were trembling badly.

"Sh-Shiro..." Kaoru whispered, before closing her eyes and screaming, punching the ground with a fist and bruising her knuckles. Every time! Every-Every single damn time, somebody dies on me... Why Shiro-why'd it have to be Shiro? Why is it always the ones who try to help?

"Oh, Dad..."

"Rin?" Yukio's voice spoke and the priests turned to see the boy looked horrified at Shiro's dead body. He didn't question, he just ran over to Shiro and knelt beside him, looking at him and checking for any sign if he was alive.

The funeral was only a week later, and Rin was currently standing at the cemetery, wearing the exact same suit that he was lent the day before everything had happened. It even had the same tie Shiro knotted for him. He was standing over at Shiro's grave, Kaoru next to him and standing silently as she stared worriedly at Rin and and mourning at the grave. Kaoru was quite a few feet away from Rin, he still being peeved that she didn't tell him.

He still hadn't demanded why and she was getting slightly worried. Maybe he doesn't trust me anymore? She wondered and blinked when she saw Rin pull out the phone Shiro gave him. She paused in her trail of thoughts as she remembered some moments she had with Shiro.

"You were both so cute when you were little!"

"As far as I'm concerned, the demon I was sent to exorcise was already killed. All that's left is to determine whether a little girl like you is a threat or not, and as far I know, you're just scared so you're acting out, isn't that right? What would you say if I told you that a friend of mine could watch over you for a little while? Be your new guardian? I would do it, but I already have two kids on my hands!" His laughter echoed in her head and her heart clenched in her chest. She swallowed and lifted a hand up, staring at it intently.

"Me? Take care of a child? Surely you must be joking." She remembered Mephisto tell the priest over the phone.

"You're father's nature is that of destruction and chaos, but you...you just have to learn to control your powers."

She was snapped out of her thoughts by a very familiar ringtone that belonged to someone she knew all too well. She watched Rin looked around in surprise and confusion and stared in shock at who the owner of the phone belonged too.

Mephisto grinned at Rin, greeting, "At last we meet." His voice echoed through Rin's phone and his suspicious were confirmed. Mephisto turned off his pink phone, which had dice and little stuffed animals hanging off of it. He bowed fancily, holding his icecream umbrella with one hand and placing another on his chest, "I am Mephisto Pheles. Precept of the Japan Branch and the Knights of the True Cross. Father Fujimoto was a dear friend. My thoughts are with you in your time of sorrow."

Kaoru deadpanned, staring at her "guardian", "You sound more amused than anything, Mephisto." He stood up straight and shook his index finger at her, tsking.

"What have I told you to call me, Kaoru?" Rin stared wide eyed at them shock-then remembered that Shiro said that Kaoru would know his friend. But how?

"Wait-you two know each other?" Mephisto merely blinked his forest green eyes Rin, not answering. As Kaoru didn't describe her "guardian" before, here it is; he was wearing a white top hat with the colors pink and purple wrapped around the base, purple gloves, pink tie that was decorated with white dots, a white suit-shirt and undershirt, jester-style pants, and pointed shoes. "How?"

Kaoru hesitated before gesturing to Rin, "Rin, meet Mephisto Pheles," She gestured to Mephisto Pheles, "Er, "Dad"," She made quotation marks with her fingers, "Meet Rin Okumura."

"W-Wait, this clown is your guardian!?"

"Yup." Rin looked at Mephisto for a few moments before looking at the people who were surrounding Mephisto. He was serious again.

"Hold on-are you all exorcists, too?" Mephisto walked forward, holding his pink icecream umbrella above his head.

"I'm afraid we are, yes. And we know all about you. Father Fujimoto tried to raise you as normal human child, the curse of many half-demons it seems, and unfortunately, it seems your true nature decided to poke its ugly little head out. Not to offend, but to have the son of Satan running loose in Assiah? Puts the whole of mankind into the worst jeopardy."

Kaoru stared strangely at Mephisto, realizing he was being a hypocrite. Did you forget that you're Satan's kid, too?

"Therefore, we are here in the name of the Vatican to exterminate you before you pop off again."

"Hey, I thought you were gonna offer me protection!" Rin growled, narrowing his eyes at him. Mephisto narrowed his eyes, a fanged smile growing on his face.

"Oh, that's personal boy, this is business. Now then, you have two options to choose from. The first one is that we kill you. The second; try to kill us and run. Apologies, you also have the option of committing suicide." He held up three fingers, grinning, "There, that's three."

"Wait-isn't there a fourth?" Kaoru interjected, intent on preventing Rin's death, "Come on, can't you pull some strings or something? Please?"

"Sorry, not this time," Mephisto apologized, though not sounding very sorry at all, "You have your options, Okumura. Which would you prefer, sir?"

Rin was silent, the heavy rain causing his hair to stick to his face. Eyes traveling to Kaoru, whose orange hair was now sticking to her skin from the rain revealed the small yellow horns that poked out from the sides of her heads. Thinking for a long moment, going over what they both said in his mind, demanded, "Let me join you."

Mephisto's eyes widened in disbelief at what Rin said and his smile dropped into a frown, mouth slightly ajar as he questioned in confusion, "Huh?"

"You can say what you want-think what you want," Rin started, glaring at him and the other exorcists, "I don't give a damn. But get this straight; Satan is not my father! I only have one dad and his name was Shiro Fujimoto!!!" He growled, raising his voice but not quite yelling.

Kaoru let a small smile cross onto her face at Rin's confession, knowing that what he said was the truth-despite his blood line.

Mephisto frowned and placed a fist on his hip, looking at Rin strangely, "Hang on, kid-You want to be an exorcist like Father Fujimoto?" He held a finger up as he said, "Uh, may I ask you something? Why would someone like you," He pointed at Rin to prove his point, "want to become an exorcist?"

Rin didn't even hesitate as he growled darkly, "I'm gonna beat the shit out of Satan!!!"

Mephisto's went so wide, Kaoru was sure that they almost bulged out of his head. Stress lines formed on his face and Kaoru counted down from three mentally.

Two...one-

Mephisto burst out into hysterical laughter. Rin stared at the man in annoyance, shoulder slumping as he demanded,

"What the hell is so funny?" Kaoru, ignoring the fact that Rin may not be on good terms with her right now, walked forward and clamped a hand on his shoulder saying,

"Just wait a few moments, he'll be done in a second." Rin couldn't reply, for Mephisto tried to hold back his laughter as he pointed at his half-brother,

"You're kidding!! The son of Satan working as an exorcist!?" He leaned back, holding his stomach with his free hand as he laughed again, "How brilliant! I haven't laughed like this in ages!! This is just classic!"

"I'm serious about this!" Rin snapped, glaring and causing Kaoru to draw her hand back in surprise. Mephisto wiped the tears in his eyes away with an index finger elegantly, smiling at Rin and saying,

"I don't doubt it. You're on, sir."

The exorcists surrounding Mephisto looked at the full-fledged demon in alarm, one protesting, "Wait, Sir Pheles-!"

Rin stood up straight in surprise, "Huh-It's okay?"

"As Kaoru said; I can definitely pull some strings. But I must warn you-you've chosen a thorny path to follow." He grinned at Rin, revealing is fanged teeth, "You might just end up regretting not to die today. Your fate is sure to be most terrible and agonizing."

"I don't give a damn," Rin replied, not regretting one second of it, nor hesitating, "I'm not a human or a demon anymore. My only choice now is to move on." His fist clenched, eyes narrowing in determination, "I'm gonna become an exorcist!" He then grumbled to himself after a few moments, "And the only thing funny here is your outfit..."

Kaoru let out a loud snort and quickly clamped a hand over her mouth, a face a bright red. I just snorted aloud, didn't I? ...Oops.

Rin had the willpower to resist Satan...his bloodline...The only thing he couldn't resist is the blue flames; the only son of Satan, and a half-demon no less, to have the blue flames.

SO many interruptions while I was trying to type this. XD Took me at least three days total because of everything that was going on-Band Camp, Highschool so the hours of when I can work on this is shorter, taking the gargbage out to grandmother's, having to head out to places-NOT so much time...I finished it this morning when I was getting ready for school. XD Gotta love Mephisto. Whattya think?
Made the picture from a based I used a while ago.
